Physically Poor or Spiritually Poor

Are the spiritually blind able to come to us without fear?

Reaching the physically or materially poor being a good deed is understood by both Christians and Non-Christians. But the spiritually poor are often looked down upon. We lack compassion towards the angry person, the negative person... would not this distinguish us from the rest of the world, if we had the compassion of Jesus, who wept for the lost and rebellious Jews?

“When He was come near, He beheld the city, and wept over it.” Luke 19:41

His tears were not for Himself, though He well knew whither His feet were tending [the cross]......He wept for the doomed thousands of Jerusalem—because of the blindness and impenitence of those whom He came to bless and to save. —The Great Controversy 18.1

Unto the poor the gospel is to be preached. —Letter 113, 1901

It has become fashionable to look down upon the poor.... —Manuscript 6, 1891
